An event every week that begins at 11:00am on Friday, repeating until June 15, 2018
Looking for a new hobby? How about something that will help you deal with stress, enhance your fine motor skills, let you create beautiful and functional items and assist local charities?
Knitting is a practice that dates back over a thousand years, and brings many of the same benefits as meditation (it reduces anxiety and depression, slows cognitive decline and improves focus), except you also end up with an awesome scarf or tea cosy at the end!
UON Chaplain and hardcore knitter Bev Paterson has kindly agreed to teach anyone who’d like to learn this awesome craft. Come along to the Chaplaincy (Room HA152 in the Hunter Building, directly opposite the Huxley Library) anytime between 11am and 2pm each Friday, pick up a pair of knitting needles and get to it! And if you’re already an experienced knitter, you’re just as welcome; sit and work on your next masterpiece, relax and have a chat.
You can keep whatever you make, of course, but Bev is also connected to a number of local charities, so if you’d like to donate your new scarf or blanket to someone in need, you’ll also be making the world a better place.
No registration necessary. Just pop in!
