It’s May the Fourth, better known as Star Wars Day – a sacred holiday for Star Wars fans across the globe. To celebrate, we’ll be screening a Star Wars marath… oh no, wait. We couldn’t get screening rights to any of the Star Wars films; turns out they’re virtually impossible to secure. Bugger.
So instead, we’ll be screening the 1999 comedy sci-fi film Galaxy Quest, starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. (Hey, it’s set in space. We’re in the ballpark.)
Parodying television series such as Star Trek and its fandom, Galaxy Quest follows a group of ageing actors from a defunct television series; they are approached by an alien race who ask for their help, believing the show’s adventures are real historical records.
Pizza will be served from 6.00pm, and the film will commence at 6.30pm. For catering purposes, please register if you’d like to attend.
