May 25 is Geek Pride Day, and – more specifically – Towel Day, when we celebrate the incomparably brilliant literary works of Douglas Adams. To mark the occasion, we’re screening the film of Adams’ most beloved book: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The film follows a thoroughly ordinary man named Arthur Dent (Martin Freeman), who awakes one morning to discover that his best friend is an alien and that Earth is about to be demolished to make way for an intergalactic bypass. Narrowly escaping aboard a spaceship, he soon becomes entangled in an increasingly bizarre quest to find the ultimate question to life, the universe and everything.
Led by a fantastic cast (including the voices of Stephen Fry and Alan Rickman), and packed with Douglas Adams’ legendary wit and satire, this is a film (and an entire series of books) you absolutely should not miss.
And, in keeping with Towel Day (and the instructions of the Guide itself), make sure you bring your towel with you.
Pizza will be served in the lobby from 5.30pm. The film will commence at 6pm.
