‘Shut Up and Write’ Boot Camp
September 11 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Stuck on writing your thesis? Lit review, paper, journal article or assignment? Looking to boost your productivity and make real progress?
NUPSA runs monthly writing boot camps, where students come together and write without distractions or warring commitments. Making time to write is critical; it’s a skill you’ll overwhelmingly need to develop and use if you’re going to complete your postgraduate studies.
Over the course of the day, you’ll be given four hours of quiet writing time (structured using the Pomodoro Technique). During each break, you’ll be able to connect with other postgrads, socialise and share writing tips and tricks.
10am – 12pm: First writing session (snacks, tea and coffee provided)
12pm – 1pm: Lunch break. Lunch will not be catered, but there are plenty of food providers at Bar on the Hill, the Hunter Building and elsewhere.
1pm – 3pm: Second writing session (snacks, tea and coffee provided)
This is an excellent opportunity to discipline your writing habits, build confidence with academic English and make real progress on your writing tasks. Come along prepared to write; bring any materials or notes you need to get started and work through your particular project.
To reiterate: this is not a workshop. Beyond timing each pomodoro and break, we will not guide or instruct you in any way. This is a time to sit and work on your own writing projects, with other students around you, in a quiet environment free of distractions.
