For almost a year now, we’ve run The Space – a weekly social group for postgraduate students and their families – at Callaghan campus. Workshops, activities, games, free food… The Space is a great place for students to connect and have fun.
But what about online students? Satellite students? Those who can’t make it to these sessions, but who would love to broaden their connections, make new friends, and feel like they’re part of the student community?
We haven’t forgotten you, bright young things. (And you’re not a minority – did you know that you make up about half of all postgrads at UON?) Starting in March, we’re looking to run a series of regular online sessions called The Space 2.0 – a place where online and satellite students (and on-campus students – everyone’s welcome) can have a chat, have a laugh, find out more about us (and each other), and connect.
We intend to include some of our on-campus content in these sessions; we’ll take some of the best workshops and activities each month and give them online equivalents in The Space 2.0, and eventually, we’ll run some exclusive content there as well.
But first thing’s first: this Friday (February 17) from 4.00pm, we’ll be hosting a ‘beta’ session – a test run, so to speak. Jump online, fire up your webcam and/or microphone and/or typing fingers, and give our online platform a good licking (we’re using Google Hangouts for this one). Tell us about yourselves! And tell us what we can do to make you feel welcome.
We’ll need your email address to invite you to the room when the session starts, so please click below to register.
