Workshop: Networking/Making Social Connections
July 24 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Thank you for your patience! This workshop now has a new date and room: Wednesday, July 24 @ The Glasshouse, Bar on the Hill. If you originally registered for this workshop in June (before it was rescheduled), you will need to register again if you are attending now.
Regardless of your career path and where you want to get to professionally, networking is easily one of the most important skills you’ll need. Your ability to work a room, make a favourable first impression and build new connections will have an enormous impact on your employability; it’s also a major part of making friends and socialising more generally.
This workshop, run by Richard Thorpe from the UON Counselling Service, will give you all kinds of tips and techniques to make you a more effective networker – from how to introduce yourself (with a glass or canapé in one hand, and without looking like a buffoon) to what questions to ask, and how to present yourself in a way that’s both natural and memorable.
If you’ve ever struggled in social situations (personally or professionally) and would like to become a more confident communicator, sign up and come along!
