NUPSA 2018 President (and 2019 President!) Ash McIntyre introduces our Executive for next year.

Hello everyone! I’ll keep this one especially brief, but it occurs to me that we have not formally announced our new Executive for 2019! And what better time to announce them than our final special edition of the newsletter celebrating NUPSA’s success in 2018.

I feel incredibly confident about our new Executive. We have a collection of students who have been incredibly engaged throughout their candidature, and who are full of ideas on how to continue building NUPSA’s engagement, range of activities and level of advocacy (I just know it!).

Our social media announcements are a little bit more casual than is appropriate, so for the first time, I officially present to you the postgrad student representatives, elected by you, for 2019!

  • President: Ash McIntyre
  • Vice-President: Barrie Shannon
  • Research Rep: Joseph Pegler
  • Equity Rep: Amber Sauni
  • International Rep: Shumaila Khurshid
  • Satellite Rep: Kirsty Richards
  • Coursework Rep: VACANT
  • GLBTI Rep: VACANT
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Rep: VACANT

On an additional note, I am extremely honoured to be serving a second term as President for NUPSA. I have learnt so much this year about our cohort, and I look forward to taking this new knowledge and applying it in the new year to lead NUPSA into 2019!

As you can see, we have three vacant positions on the Executive for next year: Coursework Rep, GLBTI Rep and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Rep.

From the start of 2019, these positions will be treated as casual vacancies, which means any student that identifies with the relevant cohort (ie. they identify as a coursework student, LGBTIQA+ student or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student respectively) can apply!

If you’re interested or have any questions, email us at nupsa@newcastle.edu.au or call us on (02) 4921 8894. We’re keen to fill these positions and have the strongest possible Executive next year!
