Student Representative (SR)
The SR Support Officer guides and assists Executive members throughout the year in their training, their knowledge and the performance of their duties. He/she inducts newly elected students to their roles, helps connect them with students who’ve approached NUPSA with issues relevant to their portfolio, and provides them with ongoing support and advice.
The SR Support Officer is also responsible for the day-to-day logistics and management of NUPSA’s office and affairs. He/she organises meeting documents and minutes, does financial archiving and corresponds with stakeholders across the University to ensure NUPSA meets the needs of postgraduate students.
Hi there – I’m Ellie Clay, the Student Representative Support Officer. I recently moved back to Newcastle after ten years studying and working in Sydney, and am now happily acclimatising to campus life at UoN.
I have a Bachelor of Arts (English) / Bachelor of Art Theory from UNSW, where I was also involved with the student organisation Arc in various roles and projects. More recently I was Producer / Student Services Coordinator at NIDA, where I worked closely with students and the Artistic Planning Committee. As well as providing day-to-day admin support I also helped coordinate NIDA’s play production seasons, graduation ceremonies, orientation weeks and the annual national audition tour.
My time at NIDA has reinforced my love for theatre and literature – I’m never without a book in my bag and love a reading list recommendation. I also worked at a video store throughout high school and uni, so if you want to talk movies, I’m your gal!
I’m looking forward to getting to know UoN and its postgraduate cohort, so don’t hesitate to pop into the NUPSA office, or come along to one of our many events and say hello.
